You may encounter this strange value when double-clicking on a value in your downloaded Excel file. If you do you will need to remove that before using any of the formulas for sorting, totaling columns, and/or working with the data in Excel.

Remove a formula and leave the result in place.

To do this, you copy the formula and then paste it into the same cell by using the Paste Values option.

  1. Select the cell or range of cells that contains the formula.
If the formula is an array formula, you must first select all cells in the range of cells that contains the array formula:
    1. Click a cell in the array formula.
    2. On the Home tab, in the Editing group, click Find & Select, and then click Go To.
    3. Click Special.
    4. Click Current array.
  2. On the Home tab, in the Clipboard group, click Copy.
  3. Keyboard shortcut  You can also press CTRL+C.
  4. On the Home tab, in the Clipboard group, click the arrow below Paste, and then click Paste Values.
